First thing in the morning just when the
sun comes up
And even before I take a sip of coffee
from my cup
The first few words that come out of my
mouth
Even as the sun is rising in my bedroom
from the south
Are good morning Father I give this day
to you
All I ask is that you be with me in all
that I do
I get up out of bed with a massive great
big yawn
I love this time of morning which is the
breaking of the dawn
The first thing I do is let Psalty go outside
And when he has had enough he sometimes
comes in and hides
His toys from me when he knows I’m not
looking
I grab hold of the toy he is playing with
of which he is pulling
The kettle I fill with water to make
myself a drink
The cuppa I did not finish last night
well, I pour this down the sink
I need that first cup of coffee to get me
moving in the morning
To get me motivated too just as the sun is
dawning
I go back into my bedroom to the comfy
chair that’s there
But first I need to move something from
it which happens to be a bear
I pick up my Every day with Jesus written
by Selwyn Hughes
And settle down quite comfortably with my
coffee that’s now brewed
It takes me a good ten minutes or so to
read through the day’s portion
Sometimes in the daily reading there are
written words of caution
of how you should live your life as a
Christian in a world so hard
For there are often times throughout your
life where you need to be on guard
When I have finished my daily reading which
for me is the best part of the day
I move onto read more daily scriptures
just as the sun gives out its first ray
The Lamp and light daily readings are
fixed high upon my wall
So I turn to my bible and as I do almost
every day I give His Word my all
For it is so important to get into God’s
word as often as I can
After all for me to walk with Him each
day is part and parcel of His plan
I allow the words that I have read soak
deep into my soul
For now it is time for me to kneel and
pray and so I’m on a roll
Taking time to meditate on what I feel
God is saying
I also know that the rare times I hear His
voice I don’t feel like obeying
But I know I should do this no matter how
I feel
Because at the end of the day and moving
forward I know that God is real
There are times I struggle to get up to
even read His Word
And I know that for some this might simply
be really quite absurd
But the times this happens are very rare
and few
And it is then that God speaks to me
almost right on cue
For I know he wants me to delve into the
bible a little bit more deeply
And I know the times I don’t that I just feel
and react quite sheepishly
He only has good intentions for me which
were planned from the very start
To walk by faith as He knows what is best
for me, I have to play my part
For no one said this walk was an easy
road to take
But he knows what I am going to do each
day from the time I am awake
So as I settle down after my daily readings
to take time to pray
I know that I must put my personal
feelings aside and let them rest at bay
